私はこの20年間日本に住んでいます。アイルランドのメイヨー州ウェストポートという場所から来ました。私の先祖の何人かは、熱い鉄からアイテムを作る鍛冶屋でした。私は蹄鉄を専門としているので、日本に来たのはそのためです。最初は真庭の栄進農場で、次に北海道の社台農場でした。私は現在、林業で働き、材木を伐採しています。大変な作業ですが、私は挑戦を楽しんでいます。余暇には、鉄と木をリサイクルして工芸品を作っています。もうすぐあなたに会えるのが楽しみです。

I’ve been living in Japan this past 20 years. I come from a place in Ireland called Westport, county Mayo. Some of my ancestors were blacksmiths, which involves making items from hot iron. I specialize in shoeing horses, and that’s the reason I came to Japan – firstly with Eishin Farm in Maniwa, then later at Shadai Farm in Hokkaido. I now work in forestry, logging timber. It’s hard work but I enjoy the challenge. In my spare time, I create crafts from recycled iron and wood. I look forward to seeing you soon!   –  Richard Grimes
